Hi Jennifer

The "job" is not too hard.

1. Come up with a theme or topic for the month

2. Receive the emails (I will transfer the GAEChallenge@Yahoo.com to the person who becomes the Coordinator)

3. Create a folder on the GAE Challenges account for the month

4. Post photos to the folder. Includes the person's name and description of the item if the person included one in the email.

- - before posting the photo you should go to the person's GAE page and confirm that they have not already posted the same photo.  This generally isn't a problem, but some people mistakenly send the photo and think they are also supposed to post it. When I find it I let them know that I couldn't post it as a Challenge piece because it was already posted and remind them next time to just send it to the Coordinator.

-- I renamed the photo to include the person's name and either the name of the Challenge or the Month. That helped me when I was posting them to get the right photo associated with the right person!

-- the only other thing I had to check was the file size. It should be less than 1K. Again, they almost always were smaller than that, but sometimes I would reduce the file size myself with a free program called Picassa.

That's all there is to it. Let me know if you have any other questions. T

Hi Terry

I might be willing to do the job of Challenge Coordinator, but I need to know what the job entails.

Sorry, Terry, the bear was done for a lady who lives in Maine and has the same situation as you have....visiting bears.  I spent some time looking at your work and you have some very nice pieces.  I like your variety and style.  I noticed your rain sticks and thought at first they were digeridoos.  We make digeridoos out of yucca plants here in AZ.  I bet one could be made from a very long necked gourd.

I took a one on one class from Jan Jones angelswoborders@hotmail.com  She had all the materials and loves gourds, gourders, and especially drums!  She participates, if not runs a drum circle in a local park once a month.  I'm sure she would be happy to give you detailed info.  It has been a while since I made mine & I don't want to give you any misinformation.  Make sure you mention GAE, I think she would be a great member.

Thank you so much for your comments. The construction of your ocean gourds is quite different than the ones that I made. I used buckshot inside mine, what did you use? Looks like you are having fun with a lot of different techniques. Love the carving!

Terry, when carving the small ornament be very gentle. As you get farther along it becomes more delicate.
