Can you tell I have a "thing" about bamboo (a lot of my house is made from it)? The candleholder was the first time I've done any detail carving on the cutouts - Bonnie G's pieces have inspired me to take the carving to the next step. Both of these were delivered to a gallery last week. We'll see...
Thank you for your wonderful comment. Since your posting, I have added a few additional photographs of my work. You can also see more of my work on my website, www.salafaruq.com, and my blog, salafaruq.blogspot.com.
Tami, with the product that Bonnie sells, paint the base with an acrylic first. Let it dry and then put the metal color on. You apply the patina while the metal is still wet. It won't react when dry. It doesn't have as much metal powder as Ron Young's product. You are right about not contaminating the patina in the bottle.
Tami, what kind of metal coating do you have? If it's Ron Young's coatings, just put a coat of the metal coating on for a base and then let it dry. Then put a second coat and before that dries spray or sponge the patina on. I'm traveling for the next couple of weeks, so future answers may take a day or more.
You are like me, I go to the main page first to see what has happened since I was there last. Then my page and photos, oh yes the photos:) I still consider myself a beginner as I have no artistic skills. I burn designs and paint as simple as possible, but how I wish I could paint like some. The fairies in the challange is just beautiful, and she did it free hand. That is what I call a pro:) All the photos are wonderful. A lot of talent here.
We are to get some snow and freezing rain with 1/4 in. of ice. We shall see. You have a great week and take it easy:) Cathy
No I didn't get them, You are quite welcome. You have been so nice to me and have made feel welcome here that I wanted to do something. How have you been? I have trying to work on something for the challange, but there has already been some wonderful work show up. Can't wait to see what all does come in. This site is so interesting. Have a great week.
