In previous years, someone has taken it upon themselves to gather gourd art photos from many artists and to create a wall calendar featuring that art. I know I participated for several years but I don't believe anyone has done so lately.. It takes a lot of work to get photos and permissions from all the of the different people - but nothing says you couldn't create a calendar with your own gourd art using one of the many photo services.

This year I searched for an art wall calendar but ended up with a daily cartoon calendar instead. It's fun to tear off the old page each day and reveal a new cartoon. I still have a wall calendar, but having this one with the tear off pages helps me to actually realize what day it is, LOL. When you keep a non-traditional work schedule sometimes you forget if it's Tuesday or Wednesday. How sad is that? :)

Here's the calendar I ended up with this year. I have a quirky sense of humor and I still enjoy reading the comics in the newspaper. Wouldn't it be great if the AGS had someone talented and clever enough to draw a really funny gourd related cartoon for each issue of the AGS magazine?

I just received a newsletter from Welburn gourds and they have a limited edition calendar with lovely gourd photos from various artist. I think they are like $19.95 or $14.95 if you buy 2 and then you get one free. Such a deal.

I created a Gourd Calendar for 2010 with my own gourd pictures this year. I hate to say that I don't have it up on my website, the one there is for 2009 and is of my paintings. I still have copies available if anyone is interested. They sell for $16.00 and that includes shipping. Just thought you might like to know. :D

Bonnie, Judy Fornshell of the AGS would be the one to send your cartoon to. She's the editor of the gourd magazine, and all her contact info is included in each issue. She's always looking for new submissions and I'm sure she'd live to have your cartoons!

Talk about a non-traditional work schedule; I know exactly where you are Bonnie, and half the time I don't know what day it is either. LOL Some days can get pretty hectic!

I was never a professional cartoonist like Jim Greenwald but I've done hundreds of cartoons through the last 40 years or so. I would have a ball doing it if you're interested?
