Hi Penny, I'm so glad to meet you. I know you'll love gourd work and look forward to seeing what you do. Yes, a gourd can be used to hold liquid as long as you really waterproof the inside. That's not always easy, however. Go to the Forum link on the  top of the main page. Click on the Index and go down to the "sealers". There are several discussions on it here. A lot will depend on what products you can get in your area. Best of luck. Rhonda
