Luminary base

I'm looking for a base with light(s) for luminaries.  I've seen some that people just set the gourd on.  An electric plug-in base (as opposed to battery-operated) would be preferable.  Thoughts?…Continue

I enjoy carving gourds and incorporating natural themes into my art. I mostly work with natural coloration, dyes, and some pyrography. All of my pieces include some form of carving work.
My art business, Groovy Gourds, also exists to feed starving children across the globe. Read more about that at my web site, GroovyGourds.com.

Hi, Steven, I have a free tutorial listed listed in the Forum, Tutorials of this website for a low cost homemade gourd holder. Bonnie Gibson sells a holder/stand  on her Arizona Gourds website and there is also something called Grip All Jaws (expensive) that holds gourds or other odd shaped pieces for working hands-free. Send me an email to cabinmade17@frontiernet.net and I can send you info on the sanding mops. Can't sell/advertise on this site so with an email we can talk off-site.

Thanks Steven.  I do some small ornaments as well.  I check your page often.  I like the snowflake ornaments.  You have crazy control to carve the celtic knot in the little gourds.  C

Thanks, Steven, the elephants was a fun gourd to make.  My main reason for trying them was to see if I could get that wrinkled look of the skin.  I'm glad you liked it.

Thanks for your kind words on my gourd lamp.  I haven't been keeping up with the GAE website recently.  I like your slideshow gourds and look forward to seeing your website.

Welcome Steven,  Just wanted to extend a welcome from another gourd person in Missouri.  I have been a member for a few months and have found the site a great source of inspiration as well as communication.  We live north of Springfield, MO and enjoy working with gourds.  Mostly do wood burning and some carving.  I am a retired Science teacher but have been asked to teach full time until May as the Physics/Chemistry teacher at Houston, MO walked out a couple weeks ago.  I say this only to say that I have had a great time working with gourds now that I have been retired.  I have made time in my schedule to enjoy this art form.  The pic. on the site are wonderful inspiration and I enjoy the communication also.  The site organizers have done a great job.  Once again, welcome.  May someday we may have the opportunity to meet.

Welcome,  Steven. We’re glad you’re here. There are many  activities and discussions in which you may want to participate.  Look around and join in.  Add some  photos of your own. And have fun!  The  GAE rules are located on the right side of the main page.   Darlene
