What is the best thing to smooth out carving? MY lines look wiggly and lumpy, I've tried files, sandpaper, just having problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

"When using ink dyes (metallic and regular), I wood burn the design, then stain all over the gourd,  even covering the design.  Then I use a cotton tip dipped in acetone (not soaked) and take out the stain within the design. …"
