"I have used Adirondack Alcohol Ink over just about anything that has a smooth, non-porous finish. Adirondack ink was created to use over plastic-type objects. I use a spar varnish, Helmsman's, over my inked gourds using a sponge to put it on. I…"
"Christine, since my last message about oil paint, I have started using a product that Bonnie G. talked about in her newsletter. It's Shiva Painstiks. They come in crayon type sticks. You cut off a piece, thin it out and start painting.…"
"Ohhh, sorry to hear this! Be sure and take your meds. We have a young lady here in Georgia who has lost one leg, a foot, and fingers to the skin-eating disease going around. Take care and thanks for letting us know that you can get a fungus disease."
"That's funny! My husband has started cleaning my gourds for me, too (I have COPD) and is now woodburning. But, he, too, should wear some kind of mask. Bonnie Gibson sells one of the disposable mask that I like. It's not a one-time use…"
"Sherry, I like Louise didn't even think about gourd dust when I began gourding. Then, I started hearing about "gourd flu" which seems to me you have. I have COPD and can't say that gourd working caused it (smoking did) but it…"
"I'm coming in very late on this post but wanted to let you know that up until last year I did all of my cutting and carving with a proxxon. I don't know the model # right off hand but it is the same size as the one in the video. I used it,…"

I love gourds because of the beauty I see in the raw gourd, without any decoration. After they are decorated in whatever manner, they are absolutely beautiful!
Oh Sandy, Olga was making lymphadema bras for all of us until JUJU Chang on GMA made them sound like sexy undies. Olga stopped making them on that day. I have bought a pump machine I use an hour each day (especially ) during the summer and I don't need that blasted sleeve or therpy any more.
I was checking out all the comments and ran across yours. So sorry, I'll save everyone by saying I have one of those torn, bloody tee shirts, too. I'll friend you in case you would like more info. on the machine.
Hi, Sandra. Hoping to see at the Hot Lanta meet this month. I'm having a difficult time with my chronic fatigue, but crossing my fingers that I'll make the next meeting. I'm really glad to have found this site!
Ah thank you so much for the compliment on the gourd box I made. I need to make some more : ) I really enjoyed that one. It was just one of those gourds and designs that kind of made itself and all went smoothly.
Thanks so much Sandra! What nice compliments :-) I am so glad you are in this group! I hope to come visit Page sometime maybe late summer and if I do, we definitely have to get together and work on gourds :-)
Hi, Darlene! I'm glad to be here. I've had a tough last years. In 2008 I had breast cancer with a mastsectomy, I have COPD, and this last fall we had a 90' red oak tree hit our house. My pictures and everything gourd related are scattered around. We just have gotten back into our house. I will definitely add the photos when I find them! As for me in a photo, hmmmm! I haven't had a good picture taken of me in 20 years so I tend to not offer a recent photo. Finding this site has made me get back into the gourd glow! Thanks.
Welcome, Sandra. We’re glad you’ve joined us. Please feel free to add a profile picture – and, of course, your own gourd photos. There are many activities and discussions for you to participate in. Look around and join in. And have fun! Darlene
