I do carving, woodburning, and painting to enhance the gourds.
Whoa! That's right up my alley. I live in a log house that my husband and I built 30 years ago. I've made several pieces of log furniture for our home, several end tables, two of which can be put together as a TV table and a couple of log twin beds. Bob, my husband, is enjoying his woodworking hobby in his retirement, too.
You're very welcome, Robert! I'm looking at your photos scrolling by and see that you use a lot of naturals in your work. Love it! You've had a lot of luck finding very nice accompaniments to your work. I always feel like it's my lucky day when I find a special piece of driftwood or other piece of nature I can use on gourds!
Please keep submitting your work. It is really, really good. You are inspiring me to use more naturals on my pieces. Have you used any deer antler on any of your works? I'd love to see them. We live in the heart of deer country in Texas and have lots of antlers to work with. My husband also slices them to make buttons. I made a piece similar to yours with the pine cones pieces on the red gourd bowl. I drilled a hole through the pine cone piece and added an antler button and tied them on the gourd with sinew. I'll try to find the picture and send it. Keep sending those pics. Beth
