Normally, when someone has gone to a school to teach the kids, everything is donated. Now, if you were to approach an art teacher, she may have some funds to buy the supplies. But, with the budgets these days, they probably won't. If you could set something up, I would approach the TExas Gourd Society about donating some gourds and/or some cash to help with the supplies. They are supposed to use their profits for things like education. It's worth a try.
You can get the Membership chair to give you a list of who lives in that region. We have folks travel to our meetings from 2 hours away. They come from south of San Antonio to Brady, that's north of us. We used to have one lady come all the way from Kingsville, south of Corpus Christi. Lucky for her, there is now a patch there. We meet every other month on Saturdays to make it easier for folks traveling.
Thanks Patricia! I'm a newbie too. I've been working with gourds for about 1.5 years now. Took classes at the Wuertz gourd festival in AZ and the Fredericksburg festival. Started with Bonnie Gibson's filigree carving class and I was hooked :-) Hope to see you at the Fredericksburg festival in October. Lynelle
