I'm new at the art, but very excited to learn new methods. Took my first class from a very talented lady in Townsend Tn.

Hi Mike, looks like Darla ansewered your question about my colored pencil piece. We are trying to talk Sylvia Gaines into teaching another class for our TGS show in 2011. If you contact her on this web site, maybe you could mention that you are interested ;-) I think all of us that took her class in 2010, really enjoyed the class!!!!
Hay, If you are in Rockport you should contact Don Vyskocil (he's a member on this site) he has just started a new Patch close to the Corpus Christi/Rockport area. If you are the around Houston our Patch meets every 2nd Saturday of each month. We're doing a progression gourd of skills...design, carving, inlay, painting, finishes and rim treatment. Tell Don and Susan I sent you to them:-}
Hay Mike, Magnolia is outside of Houston, Tx. way down south. Sylvia is up on the Northern border. I'm one of the folks who took her class at the TGS Festival, her booklet covers 2 projects, one is the horse that Cheryl Trotter posted. I believe that 9 of us did her horse project, all where turning out wonderful in class, amazing how the same pattern turned into a bit of different breed types. I feel with Sylvia's book just about anyone could learn to do a nice color pencil project. I took photo's of everyones work near the end of the class. Looking at your posted pictures I would think there are horses up coming on your gourds! I'm not the best computer buff either......Sylvia is a master and her book shows that skill also. Darla
