Her Royal Gourdness Princess of Platinum

Look who is all dolled up to come to the 70th NC Gourd Festival--Her Royal Gourdness, the Princess of Platinum, with her new, improved luffa chapeau--that's French for she wears frisbees on her head.

Geese flying lamp 2

This is the lamp I was making when I started a discussion about lamp parts. I finally used what I think is the Christmas light mentioned, a pointed bulb on a small base. The lamp is for the NC Gourd Festival's autumn theme.

Lamp parts help needed

The lamp I am working on has a lot in common with a bowl: a birdhouse with the peak cut off and an opening on the side to let light shine through. I have been looking for electric lamp parts. My concern is fire safety. I think a full-size fitting would be too hot set directly in contact with the gourd. I can't find any other fittings. Anyone have any ideas?Mary AnnSee More

Mary Ann thank you for the invite, but I am having some health issues that prevent that kind of trip.  In addition, i've only been gourding since January and my work isn't near the caliber of those on here.  I am preparing for a craft fair locally in November and I soon be posting some pictures of those I'm doing for that.  Thanks again - I love this group already.  Jessica

Thanks, Mary Ann! The thick gourds come from my supplier, Welburn Gourd Farm in California. I wouldn't be able to do all that carving on any other gourd!
