What materials do you use to coil? I am familiar with pine needles and Danish cording. Anyone use different materials to coil? Also what types of coiling do you do?

Hi Marianne, I just received weaving on gourds and reading section "About the Author", we both graduated from Winthrop University.  I graduated with Bachelors in  Social Work.  I lived most of my life in Charlotte and now live in Lubbock, Tx.  I started working with gourds about 3 years ago and it is addictive. I love weaving the best (pine needles, sweet grass, danish cord...) and making gourds with dream catchers.  I checked out book briefly and your work is beautiful!!!.  Loretta

"Weaving on Gourds," wonderful resource!   Flo Hoppe is my reed basketry teacher!  Page 13 in your book, about "green gourds"--Rot Cleaning/Darlene Propp; need some more information.  What is a green gourd, one of the green ones hanging on my vines? Or a mature gourd that has not sat one year to cure?  This is a new venture with gourds; Flo recommended your book when I contact her.  (We moved from upstate NY to TN in 2012; when I was introduced to the TN Volunteer Gourd Society, and 2013 Gourd Show!!! Impressive.)  Another blessing Carrie Lynn Dearing, now Williamson and I met at the TVGS meeting and I have the privilege of receiving gourd instructions with her.
