Became "hooked" on gourds 2 yrs ago after taking a fundraising class at the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens. We have now formed the Calabash Gourd Artisans group where we share knowledge, ideas, and laughter! I lean toward the southwest style, but love to learn new gourding techniques, woodburning, carving, layering various materials, etc. My only regret is that our growing season is too short to grow my own gourds. My husbands regret is that my gourding is taking over his shop. One thing I learned very quickly is that each gourd really knows what it wants to be...we're just along for the ride!

welcome to gourd art enthusiasts. I have been a member for about a year and have found the site so inspiring. The communication is wonderful and the photos are wonderful. It is hard to believe that so many wonderful artist are willing to share their works and ideas. Those in charge seem to do a great job managing it as well. I like wood burning and have some carving. I hope to move into other media. My wife and I are retired public school teachers and live in the central U.S. in the state of Missouri. Once again welcome.
