I bought a kit of 12 colors of leather dye and used some on a gourd I was working on and it didn't react like I thought it would. The white was "thick" and dried before I could paint the flower petal…Continue

I could certainly tell you have been woodburning for awhile. Your work is phenomenal! I found GAE probably 2 years ago, but don't find the time to interact as much as I like, but when I spot a gourd I love I have to say so! Will keep an eye on your photo gallery for more inspiration. :)

Thanks Linda! what kind of burr are you using to do your filigree work?  I use the pointed carbide bit from Ms. Bonnie Gibson  http://www.arizonagourds.com/CarvingBurs.html  . It's the one in the middle that has a sharp point on it. I love it because you can get real close to your last design. I just start with one and fit the next one to on side like a puzzle piece. Then I just keep fitting them like they are a puzzle.  Maybe that will help you.

Hi Linda.  I noticed in one of your comments awhile back you had trouble finding gourds thick enough to do the work you wanted to do.  I don't know where you get your gourds but Waylon Wuertz is growing gourds thicker and thicker.  Wuertz Farm is in Casa Grande, AZ.  If you call him and tell him what you want he can usually pick them out for you and send them to you.

I can tell by looking at your work you are a very accomplished artist.  Very, very nice.

Yes email me your address & I will send you the instructions. It was a technique that I was taught in Cherokee at the Gourd Gathering by Ms. Gloria Small.  It's work to get the eggshells clean but they are beautiful.  Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.   akilby@roadrunner.com
