How can I get a flat edge on rim of gourd?

I have made a curved cut down the gourd and need a really flat edge to get the look I'm going for.  I have sanded, but just can't get it flat.  It always ends up with a bit of a curved or rounded…Continue

Fiber Glue
5 Replies

I want to glue a fiberous material to a carved out area and then paint it.  Does anyone know what would be a good glue for this?  The glue can't show through and must be paintable.

Wuertz Gourd Festival

The Wuertz Gourd Festival was a huge success!  So much inspiration and, of course, breathtaking work by all the fantastic artists.  Great job by the Wuertz Farm!  So much fun!

Linda, Copper pieces probably were leftovers from someone's milling.  Friends picked up at a garage sale & I took some in a baggie to work with.  Thought they could work on a gourd..walla, my copper piece.  I inlaid them, but didn't think they would show well if pressed completely down.  Neat to pick up 'stuff' to use on gourds.  Have a great day.  Amy

Thanks for your comments and for thinking about me. If ever in East Texas, be sure and call me......would love to meet you.  Unfortunately, I am not close enough for the Wuertz Festival.

Thanks, Linda,

I have made a few gourds but just haven't photographed them yet.  This one I had to because it is heading to Colorado next week.  My production has slowed some as I continue to recover from the loss of my mom.  I do think I'm on the upswing now and anxious to get more pieces done for the Wuertz Festival. Hey Linda! Thanks for the comment. I have had more fun with this piece. My sister wore it to the AGS dinner at the IN show. It is wearable, and hangs to your knees and makes great sound. May make more in this genre, but am starting a new business making hypo-allergenic dog treats, so been kinda busy with that. Anyway, always appreciate comments!
