I am a gourd artist and learning to be a gourd farmer. I woodburn my gourds, then use my oil pastel/mineral spirit technique to add a gentle color to my gourds. You can see my gourd art at http://praisinart.etsy.com or on my facebook page: Praisin' Art: Gourds. I have had the privilege of having booths at the Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico gourd shows as well as heading up the Kids Korner at Texas. SO FUN to be a part of this creative community of gourders.
I just have to ask again if you would consider teaching at the Pennsylvania Gourd Fest in June? We are moving our venue to the Lebanon Valley Expo Center....about 10 miles from Hershey PA and Hershey Park. Could make a great family vacation!?! :-) Do you teach at any shows in the Midwest...I'd certainly try to visit one.
Please consider it...I love your work and the message.
Hey, Kristin, we saw your comment to Bert about the Wertz Festival. We really are hoping that you will come to our festival in Springfield,Mo. The SMGS festival is April 28, 29 at the Ozarks Empire Fairgrounds. Please go to the website for registration form for vendors. www.showmegourdsociety.com
We are really looking forward to seeing you and your family....there is so much family entertainment in the Sprinfield area!
We are really enjoying seeing the pics of your art work...they are so great!
Yes, I would have been at the 2008 show in Missouri. Are you going to Springfield next year? I hope so. We are all really excited about the move. We need everyone to bring their work and compete. Yours are just wonderful. The ones marked Hillsboro remind me in a way of Cass's work. I have always admired hers. I was at the Texas show in 2008 also I believe. This is so much fun to "meet" other gourders from Kansas. Just hope to "meet" you all in person. I was serious about a weekend retreat some time. I was in Ark City last weekend for Arkalalah and took the time to go meet Brenda Jamison. So I now can put a face to one of the names. Look forward to putting more faces to the names in the future. Would LOVE to go to Arizona some time for their festival. If you are ever in the area, please look me up.
Kristin, I'll find you early in the day. I'm excited to meet you and to check out your gourds - both art work and cleaned. I grew up in Manhattan, lived in Emporia where I taught school, then KC for 5 yrs. My husband and I were then full-time RVers for about 7 years--mostly Alaska. Loved it. Moved back to the Manhattan area 3 yrs ago. See you on Sat. I'm hoping for great weather.
