Gourd Seed Necklaces

If you google "Gourd Seed Necklaces" there is one place that tells you how to make them.  Does anyone really do this?  Do you put holes thru the center long ways or short ways?  For kids wouldn't it be better to have the holes drilled in the seed?  Is there any other way to color the seeds than using Rite Dye?  When you don't know if things are going to work out Rite Dye can be awefully expensive because you of course want more colors than just one.  When you do color the seeds how much color…See More

Step by step I am learning to grow them. I have tried many different mediums but have not found one that I have stuck to yet.

There is an Album for each Challenge, so you could search by typing in the month and year, or by the title of the challenge (such as Out of the Blue). I think you could also view GAE Challenges page and then select Albums. Let me know if neither of these works...

Judy just a quick answer to your chat question about making necklaces out of your seed.  I did that a few years ago.  Sold a couple, and then put them in my cabinet in the garage in a bag.  Some time later (months) got them out and evidently they may have had a bug or a worm--some turned to sawdust.  Hahaha

Well I am back from the trip - Arizona, New Mexico, Texas. Weather was pleasingly very nice until we got to Texas!!! and the trip back to Iowa. I got to stop at Wuezt's farm. I loved it!!!! I have dreams of having an Iowa gourd farm. I went out to the farm yesterday to see how my gourds were doing and was pleasantly surprised. Even with all the weeds there were some wonderful gourds. Can someone tell me how they control the weeds and what they use and when they use it. Is there anything I can use yet this fall to help prevent the weeds for next year? This is my second year of growing.
