Jodi Reed replied to ella covington's discussion what do i use to keep the natural color of the gourd
"I use a light shade of ink dye.  You can wipe some off with formula 49 if too dark or add more if too light.  Remember that when you seal with varnish, wax, etc. the color will look richer than it does after you heat set it."

I am a gourdaholic! I love working on gourds and spend much of my time in my studio creating gourd art.   I love learning new techniques and have just started doing some carving.
I do a few shows and sell my gourds in a local gallery.

I hope to enter a doll I'm working on now but won't decide until she's near finished. I'm sending my Buddha to Gourdstock with Sylvia. There are a few people taking large vehicles so they can transport gourds from No. Ca.

Thank you for your comment. From the looks of your gourds you do not need my help in the coloring dept  !!LOL I really like the green in the dragon fly gourd.  Care to share?)   I've used the leather dye and wax when I first got into gourd work 15 yrs ago or more? The gourds I did then have all faded, alot.! I now use  Faber-Castell, Pitt artist pens, and Zig Memory pencils and the newer ink dyes  from welborn which are in the Memories (scrap booking stuff) has lots of options for colors. I am also trying some stuff called radiant Rain
