Attaching 2 or more pieces of gourd together

I'm interested in attaching a piece of gourd to create a base to another gourd. What is the best way to do that? Would I use a glue or wood putty? I would like a strong long lasting result.

Wisconsin Gourd Society

Founded in 2005 the Wisconsin Gourd Society is now home to approximately 175 members. We have a spring festival, a fall membership gathering and classes every month throughout the year. A very fun group - join us!!!

"if the two gourds overlap, whenever possible i like to drill a hole in both and insert (and glue) a dowel. with some sanding and sometimes some wood putty or other creative [color] devices, i can usually cover up any marks or indications that the…"
