Linda Rose said… Hi Jan, I'm new to GAE and glad to see you are a part of this group. Maybe we can get together in the Spring and paint gourds together since we live so close. I've still got your phone number but would like your e-mail if you would like to be a part of our gourd patch. We meet once a month. Linda Rose
Kay Fields said… Wow! Thank you soooo much! I guess I hadn't done enough research! Actually, Garver Farms is about 2 minutes from where I live. I can't begin to thank you for all the info! I will definately check all these out.
On another note, do you paint your gourds? If so, what type of paint do you use? I am not sure what to use, and don't want to use the wrong one. I know there is oil, enamel, and other kinds.
Thank you again! and all the Girl Scouts thank you as well!

Kay Fields said… No, not yet. What I would really love is a gourd farmer/producer/seller to come to our Service Unit event, but I can't seem to find anyone in the Middletown, Ohio area. It seems all the ones I can find are at least a few hours drive away! And I don't hev enough of my own to give or sell to that many Girl Scouts. We are expecting 100 to 150 Girl Scouts and associated parents/adults to be there. Our theme is actually the Native Americans.
ALthough, I could always paint mine or sit them out as an exhibit.
Thanks for asking! Do you have any suggestions? I'm up to new thoughts on the project.
