My interest in gourds began a few years ago when I lived in Morrow Co. and the Ohio Gourd Festival was held in Mount Gilead (Morrow Co's. county seat). I've grown gourds and also enjoy wood burning and painting them. I enjoy taking classes at the Ohio Show that is now held in Greenville and look forward to learning more decorating techniques as I have a few "naked" dried gourds in the craft room begging for ornamentation.

On another note,  do you paint your gourds?  If so, what type of paint do you use?  I am not sure what to use, and don't want to use the wrong one.  I know there is oil, enamel, and other kinds.

Thank you again!  and all the Girl Scouts thank you as well!

No, not yet.  What I would really love is a gourd farmer/producer/seller to come to our Service Unit event, but I can't seem to find anyone in the Middletown, Ohio area.  It seems all the ones I can find are at least a few hours drive away!  And I don't hev enough of my own to give or sell to that many Girl Scouts.    We are expecting 100 to 150 Girl Scouts and associated parents/adults to be there.  Our theme is actually the Native Americans.

ALthough, I could always paint mine or sit them out as an exhibit.

Thanks for asking!  Do you have any suggestions?  I'm up to new thoughts on the project.
