"I was also reading up the the transparent acrylics and they are quite expensive. But then by and further reading up on them we should be able to make them ourselves with regular acrylics and diluted with water plus a small amount of retarder…"
"Thanks Sandy. Always nice to hear from you and your nice comments. I've been working so hard for my husband I don't get to my e-mail, Facebook and GAE very often. Plus we just got back from a wonderful vacation in Montana…"
"Thanks Wayne. Naturally I love the nice comments. I'm really bumbed tho. I lost a great gallery in Sedona, AZ. They closed because of the terrible economy.
Yup, look forward to seeing you in October.
"I'm not sure where you get it. You could look it up on the net. I'm sure there are different brands. I think I got mine at Michael's art supply store. I would say that gouche tempera in the tube is very similar…"
Geri,Thanks for your info. I buy most of my gourds here in South Carolina but have gotten a few from Wurtz and Welborn that are very thick. but the main gourd work I've been doing is making jewelry from shards with a friend, and she's shown me how to do closed coiled weaving around rims, and I'm hooked on that right now. Of course I have to woodburn a design on the shards and gourds before anything since that is what I love most.
I hope you are doing well and I must tell you your work is just great. I love seeing what my GAE friends are doing, it is so inspiring.
awwwww, thank you Geri. I was my pleasure. If I can help in any way just let me know. If I can.........LOL I will !
I finally got a couple of pics up of the gourd I just finished, that I used alcohol ink dyes on.
thank you Geri for your compliment on that blue gourd....LOL I wasn't sure if I even liked it. The blues on that one were a mixture of memories ink dyes ( water based)
Hey, I will send you a link or two for those dyes I was telling you about. There are video tutorials and I've been having such fun with them. you can get many effects. Some feel they are not as fade resistent as the transtint, but I haven't heard any complaints and they are said to be non fading...soooo :)
Geri, you are getting better and better!!! I love the new gourds. Sure wish I could have a lesson with you with the watercolors and watercolor pencils. I bought some last week and have played with them some but it wasn't going well so I quit for now. Your work is great. Linda
