"Some of these quilt squares were flattened by this method. Some were just cut out of large gourds."

"This recipe uses snake gourds for flattening... Cut a snake gourd into 5" cylinders. Boil for 1-1 and 1/2 hours in a large kettle. Hold them down in the water by inverting the lid over them or with a heavy pie plate. After an hour or…"

Hi Debby I was born and raised in Parry Sound. Went to nursing school in Toronto and then university in London Ontario. I actually worked as a Public Health in the early 80's and Milton was one of my areas in fact there was an office there that I would hang out at. We moved to the US in 96 and then when hubby retired we moved to SoCal 4 years ago. My sister lives in San Diego. 3 years ago she dragged me to a gourd class and have been hooked ever since. We lived for awhile in a small town called Sharon so not that far from Simcoe

Hi Debby. I have been doing gourds for approx. 5 years on and off but have really got serious this year. I was asked to display my work in 2 galleries here in the Falls which really gave my Ego a boost. I'm not that great with this computer but learning and trying to figure out how to put some of my pics in My Page. Where do the HOGS meet ? Isn't this site the greatest. I know a couple members from the Arizona Society which is nice to get together at the Patch when I go down. Keep in touch...Wayne

Thanks for the welcome Darlene. It will probably take me a while to figure out how to use this site and I'm not good at pictures either LOL. For now I'll just browse around and see what this is all about. Hugs, Debby
