Bleached gourds?

The sun has bleached most of my gourds to a snowy white. I've not had this happen before so is it OK or will they be weakened by this natural event? Thanks

I assume you can say I'm a professional artist cause I sell alot of my gourd art. If I had to give up art on gourds or art on canvas, I'd more than likely give up the canvas. I love the 3-D and sculpture effect of the gourds. Besides they talk to ya which a canvas doesn't........thanks for your site!

Dave, I get a newsletter about gourds from Canada every month.  This month at the end of the letter it tells about harvesting gourds, thought you might be interested. You can google northerndippergourds.com  Every month they do an article on a gourd artist, they have showcased some people on this site.  Anyway I always find it interesting, and maybe you already get it, if not then take a look.

Hi, like your work, especially the butterfly. I do not know what to tell you about  he black spots on your gourds. I usually dust with sevin dust, too. I have had a time this year. as there is a drought here. almost all of my gourds have died. watering them doesn't seem to help at all.  hope you have better luck. mary

Dave I just read your statement about your slide show. you are so right about gourds, not only are they the most interesting to work with, they DO take on a life of their own. When painting on canvas there is a pretty good idea just what you expect to see when done. With  gourds, that just isn't necessarily so. I haven't met a gourd yet that didn't ultimately change the tide of my thought and design. sometimes a LOT and sometimes only slightly, but it happens every time.
