Growing gourds exclusively indoors?

I've read numerous recommendations to start my gourds indoors, as I live in a more northern climate, but my question is, would it be possible with a large pot, and aggressive pruning, to grow a gourd plant from seed to mature gourd entirely indoors? I'm new to gourds, just looking for information to start growing them. I hope to make lamps out of them, as well as various other things, like canteens and hiding places and homes for my pets.

Welcome to Gourd Art Enthusiasts. I have been a member for almost a year and have found it to be a well managed site. Those in charge seem to do a great job.  The photos are so inspiring and the communication is great.  I do mostly woodburning but enjoy carving and plan to explore other media.  My wife and I are retired school teachers and are happy to have time to pursue our crafts.  Once again welcome.
