"We agree, Martin Gourds, thick, about 8 -10 in. diameter.  However, we also like working with good quality thin Martin, as when used as a lamp, the thin ones "glow" through the shell."

Teaching "on the road" Gourd classes

My husband and I are gourd artists and educators with our school district.  We are available summer breaks and are within a couple years of retirement.  Recently we've begun teaching gourd classes locally--and they are very popular!  We are now thinking we'd like to take this "on the road" next summer, traveling from town to town in our RV.How do we go about this?  Are there restrictions for a US citizen to teach art classes out of state? in Canada?  Are there "apps" that help with class…See More

Connie, I love your kitty bowl. I was surprised when I saw it because I have recently been making some kitten shards very similar to what you did. Mine were inspired by designs on a silk scarf a friend in Italy gave me years ago. I'm not much of a computer person but if I can get my hubby to post some pictures I will so you can see how close our designs are. Love your work.

Welcome to Gourd Art Enthusiasts. I have been a member for almost a year and have found it to be a well managed site. Those in charge seem to do a great job.  The photos are so inspiring and the communication is great.  I do mostly woodburning but enjoy carving and plan to explore other media.  My wife and I are retired school teachers and are happy to have time to pursue our crafts.  Once again welcome.
