Steampunk Octopus gourd purse

"Wow, Connie, this is beautiful...simple idea but really elegant. Is the color of the octopus the natural color of the gourd or did you use something to make the light and dark areas?"

I love to try different techniques, but my favorites are beading weaving.

Hi Claudia,

Thank you so much for your note today! We are a crazy-busy family with my oldest son graduating from High School this May. I think when my children are grown maybe then I will be able to do more gourd shows?! :) I usually try to do two a year, but have only done Missouri this past April, and we don't think we will be able to make Arizona this year. . .which I keep debating about! Maybe I need to do an online tutorial. . .:)--Kristin

Hi, Claudia. Thanks for the nice comments about my tambourine. Yes, I've made ocean drums and there are several ways to attach the drum skin. I don't know if there is a tutorial out there for it, though. I learned through a class here in So. Cal.

Hi Claudia!
This site is such a great source of inspiration! I started working with gourds many years ago - before internet and websites such as this. It's great to have this online community!

Thank you Claudia! It's so nice to hear from you! Thank you for the compliment on my turtle gourd. You have some great work on your page, too! Love the frog especially and your netting and beading. What are you busy with these days?
