Am an artist/woodcarver and am LEARNING gourd art. Go every few weeks to gourding session in Homer, LA, and love the people I am learning from.

The Triple thick glaze is used only on faux. Turq. sections because it leaves a raised spot when it dries. I usually varnish over it after it's dry and when I varnish the rest of the gourd. I have applied a brushed on gloss varnish over gold leaf without any problems. Delta Ceramacoat (indoor/out) Gloss was used over the gold leaf AFTER I went through all the steps required to first 'set it' properly. Hope this helps, Good Luck!
Hi Barbara, Sorry I am only now thanking you for the compliment on one of my gourds at the end of May. I don't get to visit GAE as often as I would like, but I do try to at least say thank you to those who take the time to compliment my....."Work" (some people call it that, I call it fun and I love every minute of it). Once again, thank you very much.
Barb thank you for the good words on my gourd...if you read the comment I put in the WRONG place AGAIN you will see the rest I wrote to you...forgive me but being new here I am still having some issues I will get right one day....thanks again. dhf
Hi Barbara, I got the paint bottle holder at Michaels years ago. I don't know if they still carry them or not but you could check them out. I like your latest owl gourd piece. I especially like the different technique for carving. The piece is very nice. Phyllis
Hi Barbara, I see you live close to me, I'm in Marshall, TX. Do you have any gourd patch in your area...? I wish if I could join these meetings. What do I need to do ? We don't have any patch in East Texas, unfortunately. Thanks.
