I love to create works of art out of the humble gourd.
Hi Barb - - - - Good to see you on here. I have to admit I don't get on here much..... spend way more time on Facebook. Our Iowa Facebook page is where most of us 'share' our gourd art. (which I think I added you on to our page?)
Hope the summer is treating you well.... it sure has been a few HOT days here in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Oh, there are a couple of places to buy gourds, one is McWilliams Pumpkin Patch just west of West Plains (they have a website), the other is a guy near Mountain Grove, MO, David Simpson, he has a farm and sells produce in Ava on Saturdays. Sorry I didn't see this sooner. The farmers market is closed for now, but I've been to his place and bougt some. If I find anyone else, I'll let you know.
Hey Barbara, One of these "someday"s we'll have to meet up. Maybe lunch in Mtn Home. Sure enjoyed your company at the show. I always seem to be in over my head with these gourds! They're addicting and a lot of work, but so worth it!
I do teach a class, and have handouts that I give my students. If you would like to have a copy of these directions, I'd be glad to e-mail you a copy. Also have a page of tools that are needed I could send you.
We are so excited that you are going to join us in SMGS. As for gourds between here and Texas - I have searched online and found absolutely nothing. Nearest vendor is in Piggott, Ark., and they have great gourds. They are always at our show and their gourds are clean.
