-anted to let you know I'm teaching an one-day Retreat in Lubbock, TX on August 10th.  The Lubbock Gourd Patch is putting it on.  I'm teaching two classes:  Faux Leather tooling (burning) and Chello Cactus Vase (power carving).  Please visit the Classes page on my web site (www.paintingsbyhellen.com) to view the pieces.  I would attach them, but not sure we are allowed to do that on GAE.

If you are interested, email me (hellenmmartin@gmail.com) or call me (817-907-3320).  I will answer your questions and put you in contact with the coordinator.

I know what you mean about the body battles of age.......yuck!     I will give you a call, okay? I'm sure you gave me your phone number in a private message. I'm just so forgetful and get too used to staying home. These gas prices are outrageous as usual, but it will be a small price to pay to come spend some time with you.......it's just what the dr ordered.......LOL

Very soon Barbara. Like I said, I really need a break from these four walls. I've been busy trying to get some gourds done for the gallery, but we all deserve a break....right?  Can't think of a greater break than to spend some time with you.

Thank you, Barbara. Yes, I've used the patina several times. It's fun to see how it turns out. Thanks for you help.

Thank you, Barbara and congratulations on the sale. I have a gourd I'm putting a whitetail shed on that would look great with this technique. I'm going to try it today. Watch for a pic. if it works.

Hi Barb, Thank you for the invite. I think I have some of Bonnie's patina. Did you use a copper for the base coat and then sponge patina on? I was trying to figure out how the patina was so "broken". I really like this piece.

Winter Blues...

I don't know why.... but this time of year it's as tho my mind shuts down to hibernate for the winter.

I think I need the color green; winter is so blah.

I still have all sorts of creative juices flowing but my "get up and go" is not there. Every once in awhile I will get a designing spurt and it's so exhilarating!

So instead of feeling like I have lost my "get up and go".... and am reversing it to say "Go and Get UP!
