I've searched all items for the answer.. I saw it one day some time ago and now can't seem to locate. I know there is a product available made from wood that is a vice type 'thing' that holds gourds…Continue

I read the discussion on the elimination of 'favorites' and that Bonnie had reinstated the 'favorites'. How can I access it IF it has been reintroduced? I will also be using my own desktop to use…Continue

Vickie Seifert said… Ok, I'll share my ability to sculpt for an equal amt of your painting abilities, ha ha ha. I wish it was that easy. I'm trying to find clay that will give me more work time and still dry without cracks or shrinkage. The AS is ideal for bonding joints and simple things but it just does not give me enough work time for sculpting. I'm just too new at it so have way too much waste. Thank you, Amy for your support!
Vickie Seifert said… You are very sweet, Amy, thank you. I have always admired your painting and wish so much that I could paint but I'm clueless. It's good that we want to do more, it makes us reach beyond ourselves. Thank you also for your "Friend" request!!!
Well I liked him! And yes learning is all I do too!

Chris Pawlik said… Amy, you said you had worked with oil's in the past...acrylics do not work the same way. You might try using a retarder to slow the drying time...
Thanks Amy for the nice compliment. Gourding has just become such a passion for me and I spend every waking hour trying to better myself. Problem I run into is the gourds I have arn't the ones I need to do what I want. So I try new things. But I'll keep working on it. Thanks again.

To answer your question, Tandys does carry pigskin suede, which is what I use and recommend in the Beaded Rim Tutorial. You'd have to either buy scrap (if they have any) or buy a small hide and cut the strip to size, depending on the opening size of the gourd. Any leather will do but the pigskin is thin and easily pliable to shape around the rims. Hope that helps you.
