I patiently dropped one drop of alcohol ink, let it dry (mostly), then dropped another, while holding the gourd still so the drops didn't run. Takes time! The rim is red dyed sea grass, accented with long black beads (from Michael's).

Thanks, It seems to have so much luster for an unvarnished gourds, I'm surprised. No problem with scratching?
I don't varnish them. This is just the natural finish after alcohol ink.
Also, I didn't do anything to the gourd before adding the ink (just cleaned it!).
FYI.. the black edges of the colors are natural - this is what happens when alcohol ink stops running.
Would you tell me the kind of varnish you use on alcohol inks?
Nice effect and colors. Like it!
