The Texas Gourd Society's 2016 Lone Star Gourd Festival will be held August 19-21at the New Braunfels Convention Center.  This location is an excellent location because it's air-conditioned, most classes are inside, large booths, and ample parking.

Visit the TGS web site to get information about the booths.  Classes have not been accepted yet.

We hope you will attend!!!!

Be sure you pay your 2016 dues by the end of February.  If you don't, your name will be removed from the membership roster.

If any of you are going to the Wuertz festival this year, and you haven't made your room reservations yet, better get with it, they are selling out!

Melissa, I can definitely relate. When I feel like it is a job (which it actually IS), I go to the shop to just "play around". I splash around with dyes and doodle with the woodburner. Next thing I know, some fresh ideas have me energized. So have fun playing. We all can use it!

Haven't been doing much gourd work for awhile because it became a job instead of a hobby. I have been combining needle felting with some small gourd pieces, which has been fun, so thinking of backing off even more for a few months and doing am few things just for fun, gifts and myself instead of worrying about shows and gallery stock. I think I'll skip the Kerrville show because we just can't afford it right now, but may make the show in New Baunfels. I had a blast with my class and some said they'd like to take it second time, so will think about that and decide later.

Add our thanks to all involved. Jimmy and I have not stopped talking about the show. It was great seeing all those "cool" smiles.

I'd like to thank all of the wonderful folks at the show also. Special thanks to all of the board members and show chairs for all of the work they did. Big thanks to all of the great teachers for sharing their knowledge and skills in some really wonderful classes. Looks like the Lonestar Gourd Festival will be at this new location which worked out very well for the next 3 years. And we have a new Gourdzette editor also! Our show it hosted  by volunteer efforts and big thanks to all of you! Remember next year we need all of our members help to make these festivals the best gourd show ever! I believe we got lots new gourd juice running through some veins this year. Double thanks to everyone that worked in the public demo area also! Thanks to Robert Rivera for his  donated signed posters.....I can go on and on....Ginny Watts thanks for your art work donations I'm lucky enough to now have another one of your beautiful pieces:-)

Nothing better than to talk to people who have never been to a gourd show before...you can spot them pretty easy by the amazed looks on their faces:-)

Thanks to all the folks who helped make the festival a great success.  And, a big thanks to all who came.  It was so exciting to see how many people came to the show.  The classes were well attended, the competition was wonderful and sales were good. The new facilities are wonderful and air conditioned.    Looking forward to next year.

9 more days until the deadline to sign up for classes at the Lone Star Gourd Festival.  We have a lot of great classes still open.  Some of the instructors will take a limited number of walk ins, but all are not accepting them.  So, to insure you get the  class you want, get your application in.  You can sign up with PayPal on the website or send in your application.  Some classes will be cancelled on Aug 2 if they don't have enough students.  Don't miss out on the chance to learn some great techniques and projects.  Check out the classes on www.texasgourdsociety.org

Great, Clarissa.  Hope more will be coming in.  We already have several who have signed up.  So, if someone really wants a certain class they need to get signed up.
