Are any of you planning on vending or teaching this October at Morton Arboretum?  If so, what week ends and what classes are you planning?

Fellow IL gourders, Mark your calendars for May 5th and 6th, 2012! The Northwest IL Gourd Festival takes place at Council Hill Station, Scales Mound, IL, approx. 8 miles Northwest of Galena, IL. Live music in the PM, gourd classes, wander the grounds and see the bluff where Chief Blackhawk addressed the Native People, fest is in the barn at the historic landmark, demonstrations, lots of gourd art, crafts, supplies and raw gourds. Grab a meal and a drink in the Station, Jaime will have the barbeque grill going!

Hi, All,  Who's going to the Pumpkin Fest at Arthur this weekend? I plan to leave home Friday morning and was wondering where everyone is staying?

Hi, All IL Gourders, I sent out a message for the Northwest IL Gourd Festival in Scales Mound, IL at the Council Hill Train Station. Hope you can all make it!

Last year and in prior years this festival has been located at Jack Schandalmeier's Grain and Gourd Farm outside Durrand, IL. Scales Mound, IL is slightly North and East of Galena, IL in the Northwest side of the state.

Hi, IL friends. I want to invite you and your gourder friends to the Gourdgeous Day in the Country Gourd Festival in rural Orion, IL this Saturday. We're on PSL(Paula Sands Live on Thursday afternoon to talk about the fest if you get a chance to watch it. Does channel 6 broadcast where you are? She's on at 4 or 4:30 pm if you get it. Bonnie

The weather seems great here this year for gourds. Have about 40 plants growing and doing well. The long handle dippers are up over my 8 foot trellis already. Also got seed from Arthur- planted a strawberry gourd, martin gourd and a dipper gourd doing well but the seeds for an egg gourd did not sprout at all so won't have any of those. have a couple of volunteer seeds also that came up in the pathway so we shall see what comes up. I will be at the arboretum the first weekend of October vending and teaching a beginning class of chip carving. Hope to see you there!

Raining here too but I'm working on gourds inside so it just means I have to turn on more lights. Garden gourds are all up and reaching for the arbor. Had to replant a few due to squirrel and racoon activity but I had more seeds so all is well. I even planted mini-bottles in the whiskey barrels by the front porch. I planted a few penis-shield seeds I got from Arthur IL fest last weekend. Now that's an interesting gourd... I hope they come up, I have a use for them though it's not their intended use!
