Hi, Illinois Gourders, There is a program this Sunday, August 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Quad Cities Botanical Center, Rock Island, IL.  Cost is $5.00 if you are a Senior or $6.00 for the rest of you. Children under 12 are free.  The program is "Gourd"opedia - Special Edition - The History and Mystery of Gourds  -  by Roxie and Dallas DeShane. The journey of  a gourd covers thousands of years.  How did they get here?  Where are > they from?  Why don't the gourds that are growing, look like the ones I planted?  How do the garden surroundings influence gourd genetics > for generations to come?  From necessary vessels to artwork in your > home - learn how gourds have evolved - from their past to the present.
